I have to admit, I am one of those people that no matter how hard I try I can’t seem to bust the habit of warding off that late night sweet tooth. Believe me when I say, I have researched the heck out of why I have these after-dinner desires, how harmless (and harmful) they can actually be, and of course what steps I can take to actually beat the cravings.
Not surprisingly, I have found that YES, these habits and cravings of munching after dinner are breakable. When I stop eating them, I stop craving them, it is as simple as that.
However, today I am not going to be the healthy lady that tells you to sip on peppermint tea, chew on a piece of dessert gum, or go to bed early to get rid of temptation. Instead, I am going let you in on my top three what I call, “guilt-free deserts” when I do decide to go for a little late night splurge.
Frozen Banana Peanut Butter Bites
I can honestly say these taste better then store bought ice cream treats. The combination of cold banana, creamy peanut butter, chocolate, and sea salt… UMM YES PLEASE!
¼ a cup of dark chocolate chips
2 tbsp of peanut butter
1 large banana
1/4tsp of sea salt
Directions: Heat dark chocolate in microwave 1 min or until fully melted. Cut and peel banana in small thin slices. Freeze for 15 minutes, add peanut butter and make into sandwiches. Dip into chocolate and add sea salt. Freeze for another 30 minutes.
Chocolate Peanut Butter Microwave Mug Cake
1 scoop of Protein powder (I used chocolate)
1 tbsp of coco powder
1 tbsp of stevia
¼ tsp of baking soda
1 egg white
2 tbsp of greek yogurt
1 tbsp of almond milk
1 tbsp of peanut butter
Directions: Pour into a mug and microwave for 1 to 2 minutes until a cake like batter. Use toppings of choice. Usually I will make a greek yogurt, vanilla frosting with stevia and vanilla extract. I also like to melt more peanut butter on top!
This may not taste like a Sprinkles cupcake but it is sure to satisfy your late-night sweet craving with a moist, cake like batter. Blueberry Frozen Yogurt
1 C of fresh blueberries (frozen ok too)
1 Cup of 0% Greek Yogurt
1 tsp of vanilla extra
11/2 tbsp of stevia
Almond milk to desired consistency
Directions: Blend all ingredients in blender and freeze for 45 min to 1 hour. Add toppings if desired.
This is one of my favorite and refreshing nighttime snacks. You will be surprised at how the consistency forms like ice cream when frozen!
